Fireforce 1 jet car explodes in fireball.

Fireforce 1 Jet car. Owned by Martin Hill and driven by Tony Baker, at Santa Pod’s annual Flame & Thunder show. Saturday evening, 4th November, 2006. The car left the line, both parachutes deployed, then a small shower of sparks shot out of the jet tube followed by flame from all around the back of the car. Then the entire car errupted in a fireball! Tony eventually managed to stop the car at the top of the track, and escaped unharmed, appart from some smoke inhalation. The firesuit and safety equipment allowed him to survive such a horrific fire. Sadly the car didn’t fare so well, and will be retired. A sad loss to drag racing events, as Fireforce 1 was most people’s first experience of seeing, hearing, and feeling a jet car in the UK. Inspection of the car has shown the jet engine itself is intact, and no fan blades were lost. This is the shorter edit, missing the beginning of the fireshow, and watching the car burn to the ground for a few minutes afterwards. Search youtube, as someone further up the track (about half way) has captured the car bursting into flames and rolling down the track with fire pouring from the windows and underneath.
